Save the Date!

The 2009 Gideon Media Arts Conference and Film Festival has come and gone. It was tremendous!
I have been blessed to be able to attend both years of the conference. For Christian creatives, it was awe inspiring. Not only were we encouraged by other Christian creative people in all kinds of media (film, novels, radio, graphic novels/comics/manga, acting, music, you name it) but we were edified by the presence of the Lord and His Holy Spirit. It was a little difficult trying to come down from that and getting back to normal.
Next year's Gideon will be held June 4 thru 8, 2010. I hope to see you there.

Clash! Creative

This poster was designed for display at the Gideon Media Arts Conference. It's time to let the cat out of the bag and introduce the world to Clash! Creative. Can't say a lot at this time, but we hope to have more to say soon.
We have officially launched Clash Creative as a business entity as of June 5, 2009. We will be producing faith-based graphic novels, stories, books, etc. for tweens and teens (ages 12 to 18). We would greatly appreciate your prayers for this endeavor.

P-40 Vector Painting

I have been experimenting with scale – how large should I draw the original to get the best results? This one was drawn way too small and I could not hold some details. Others that I have done were so large and detailed that when seen at the reproduction size, a lot of the work is not even visible. Still experimenting...

Vector Painting

This is a portrait of our youngest daughter, Tavia. She graduates high school in May and we will be empty nesters in September. I did this to see if I could do a painting in vector. It looks just like her!

Digital Painting

This was painted on the Cintiq. This was my first digital painting where I felt I was getting the hang of the medium. I have always HATED mixing colors and paints, so digital art is perfect for me. I hope someday to get the medium mastered.

More iPhone Paintings

I've been doing 1 or 2 of these a day. It sure makes the iPhone a fantastic tool for any artist. Plus, if I get bored, I can always play Wurdle!

Appaloosa

Just watched the movie Appaloosa and was inspired by the great photography. I used this as an opportunity to try to do a painting emulating Gregory Manchess. Not totally successful, but headed in the right direction. I am now to the point where I am feeling pretty comfortable with the Cintiq. Digital painting

More iPhone Paintings

If you are an artist, I would highly recommend getting an iPhone and the application "Brushes." It's like having a digital sketch book wherever you go.

A few years ago I tinkered with the idea of a superhero character. It didn't take me too long to realize I am a better cover artist than a graphic story artist. digital

In September I bought a 24" iMac and a 12" Cintiq. I've been trying to develop my "Cintiq skills" since then. Here is an early attempt. digital
